Helping Your Infant Sleep: Tips from Kiddie Academy of Streamwood
With a newborn, sleeping through the night can feel impossible—but we promise, it gets better! Around 3 to 5 months, babies begin developing sleep patterns. That’s a great time to start introducing a calming bedtime routine.
Simple Sleep Routine Tips:
-
Warm bath – Calms baby and signals bedtime. Limit to 3 times a week for infants.
-
Books or songs – Try Goodnight Moon or Sweet Dreams, Maisy to wind down.
-
Feeding – Offer a bottle in a dimly lit room, but avoid putting baby to bed with it.
-
Cuddle time – Gentle snuggles help both of you relax.
-
Middle-of-the-night wake-ups? – Pat gently and soothe without picking up.
-
No screens – Keep lighting soft and avoid overstimulation.
-
Soothing sounds – Try white noise or soft lullabies.
Remember, safe sleep practices are just as important—always refer to the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines.
With patience and consistency, your little one will settle into a healthy sleep routine—and so will you!
