How Kiddie Academy Gives Back to the Environment
At Kiddie Academy®, our approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is built on three pillars: Community, Environment, and Workplace.
Our Environment pillar is rooted in approachable yet impactful initiatives that both Academies and our Corporate staff can take part in. They serve as a reminder that even a small contribution can have a big outcome.
Corporate
- Recycling Program: Kiddie Academy takes an intentional approach to recycling in both Academies and our Corporate office. This includes educating staff on how to take the proper steps when recycling, such as checking their local recycling rules, thoroughly cleaning out and drying containers, and removing labels. All Kiddie Academy employees are also given a reusable coffee mug on their first day to encourage less waste.
- Community Supported Agriculture (CSA): In collaboration with Full Circle Farm, Kiddie Academy employees are given the option to sign up to receive weekly CSA boxes filled with locally grown produce. Not only does this support local farmers, but it also helps reduce your carbon footprint as buying local produce requires less travel, often comes with minimal or reusable packaging, and supports sustainable farming practices.
- Tree Planting: For the past four years and counting, Kiddie Academy has committed to planting a tree on behalf of every Academy in the system in partnership with the National Forest Foundation. You can help us make an impact and join in on the fundraising by clicking here – $1 equals one tree planted!
Academies
- Earth Day: Each year, Kiddie Academy hosts an Earth Day Contest that challenges Academies to create a large-scale, collaborative art installation using recycled materials. The goal is to showcase children’s understanding and commitment to protecting the Earth, and the winner receives a $1,000 charitable donation to a nonprofit of their choice. - Character Essentials®: Our Character Essentials curriculum empowers educators at Kiddie Academy locations across the country to find ways to teach important character-building cornerstones. One of our themes is We Are Good Citizens, which teaches children to understand how to care for the world around them through things like neighborhood clean-ups, recycling efforts, or taking care of an elderly neighbor’s garden or flower bed.
